"Belt and Road" International City Economic and Trade Cooperation Dialogue Opens in Yiwu
This morning (May 22), the 2019 Executive Board meeting of the Asia-Pacific Region of the World Urban and Rural Areas and the “Belt and Road” international city economic and trade cooperation dialogue opened in Yiwu.
This conference is hosted by the Asia-Pacific Region of the World Urban Organization, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and the “Belt and Road” local cooperation committee, and is organized by the People's Government of Yiwu. Xie Yuan, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People ’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Region of the World Urban Organization, Mayor of Surabaya, Indonesia, Ambassador of Bahrain to China, Ambassador of Nepal to China, Consul of Serbia to Shanghai, Consul of Vietnam to Shanghai, Indonesia to China Minister Counsellor of the Embassy and other officials attended the meeting. Over 360 political and business representatives and think tank scholars from the Asia-Pacific region of the world's cities and local government organizations and 79 cities and organizations in 41 countries around the world conducted extensive and in-depth discussions on the theme of “sharing opportunities for trade and promoting win-win development of cities”. consensus.
The World Urban and Local Government Joint Organization (UCLG), founded in 2004, is the largest international organization of world cities and local governments. At present, the membership of urban organizations includes local government associations in 112 countries and more than 1,000 cities from 95 countries. In 2017, Yiwu joined the World Urban-Rural Organization, is a member of the World Urban-Rural Organization Asia-Pacific Council, and is a founding member and member of the “Belt and Road” Committee (BRLC) of the Asia-Pacific Region.
Yiwu Mayor Wang Jian welcomed the guests to Yiyi to participate in this dialogue. He said that at present, Yiwu is benchmarking the free trade zone, building a pilot zone for comprehensive reform of international trade, creating a world-class business environment, and continuing to promote industrial and urban transformation. Yiwu looks forward to taking this meeting and dialogue as an opportunity to cooperate with more cities for common development. Yiwu will follow the establishment of the World Urban Organization Charter to promote the spirit of solidarity and cooperation among members, and continue to expand the "friendship circle" of local cooperation in the "Belt and Road" initiative to jointly promote the deepening of international economic and trade cooperation between cities.
